Dynamic Analysis for Discrete Particle Model by Distinct Element Method -Application to Calculation of Soil Pressure Coefficient-

The purpose of this study is to calculate the soil pressure coefficient by using the Distinct Element Method (DEM). The theory of soil pressure was established long ago and is now effectively used in the real design of the structure. We simulate the soil pressure of a retaining wall by DEM. Numerical results are compared with the formulas based on Coulomb and Rankine’s theory to confirm the validity of DEM in the soil problem.
Extracting Method of Basic Dynamic Characteristics of the Building by Using Simulated Microtremor

In recent years, construction-related laws and regulations of Japan have always been amended from the reason of falsification of earthquake-resistance data and a great earthquake disaster etc. Thus, people are interested in earthquake-proof by gradation. However, the evaluation of the seismic performance of buildings is expensive and takes much time. Therefore, the low cost evaluating method is needed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the validity of some kinds of methods which can obtain the basic structural information such as natural period and dumping factor from microtremor observation. As a result, the efficiency of random decrement (RD) method with a moving average is made clear.
Effect of Salt on Charged Colloidal Dispersion Studied by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

The effect of salt on a charged colloidal dispersion is investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The target system is protein reentrant condensation in solution induced by multivalent metal ions. The colloidal particles are large and highly charged, but not compared to real colloidal particles for simplicity, and a KCl-type salt is assumed. The charge number Z is treated as a parameter. With this treatment, the effect of salt is more easily investigated. The initial configuration consists of a mixed solution region and a vacuum region. The latter is introduced to see if the presence of salt results in a 1-phase or 2-phase final configuration. The self-diffusion coefficients for the particles and ions are investigated as functions of Z. A 2-phase system is formed for 2.9 < Z < 5.3, whereas a 1-phase system plus a vapor phase is formed due to the effective attractive interaction between the colloidal particles for Z > 5.3.
Estimation of Monthly Evapotranspiration for Sorachi River Basin Using the Drainage Basin Water Balance Method and the Artificial Intelligence

The purpose of this study is to construct an approximation formula of the evapotranspiration based on the drainage basin water balance model. The drainage basin water balance model including the distributed tank model was constructed using the latest climate grid data. This drainage basin water balance model was able to accurately simulate seasonal change of river flow. The evapotranspiration output by this tank model is a value proportional to the storage of the tank from the potential evapotranspiration by the Thornthwaite method. The approximate expression for calculating monthly evapotranspiration was an explanatory variable with the monthly precipitation and the potential evapotranspiration by Thornthwaite method. Artificial intelligence was used for exploring the coefficients of this approximate expression. In a conclusion artificial intelligence is useful to detect the optimal parameter values running model.

Elastic Plastic Pushover Analysis of Story Condensed Frame in Yield Strength Calculation of a Structure

In this study, we purpose simplification on elastic plastic pushover analysis of story condensed frame model with elastic bending stiffness of the end of member. We try improved precision on simplified analysis method, we compare analysis on frame model as correct solution and result of hand calculation on virtual work method. We compare horizontal load bearing capacity and distinction of yielding process and distribution of yield moment as simple stiff frame model of several pattern, we examine about advantages and disadvantages of analysis of story condensed frame model.
Substituent Effects on Gas-Phase Stabilities of Phenylaminomethyl Cations

Relative gas-phase stabilities of ring-substituted phenylaminomethyl cations were theoretically determined using isodesmic reactions, and the substituent effects were analyzed by the Yukawa-Tsuno equation. A substantial r+ value of 0.36 was observed for the fully-optimized cation which has a planar structure. On the other hand, a negligible r+ value of –0.03 was found for the cation in which the side chain plane was fixed orthogonal to the benzene ring plane. This decrease in the r+ value was attributed to the through-resonance effect between the cationic center and the para –R groups, which operates through a non-classical orbital interactions between the benzene π-electron system and the side chain. This mechanism was investigated in detail by means of NBO analyses.
A Report about Latest Trends of Education Support Systems Using IT

Recently, many technology standards about education support systems are published such as Learning Tools Interoperability(LTI), xAPI, Caliper Analytics, etc. These standards enable to make new type of education support systems. One of those are called Next Generation Digital Learning Environment(NGDLE) or LearningOS. In this report I show results of investigations about latest trends of education support systems like NGDLE and technical standards used to making new type of education support systems.
